Consiglio, a Canadian journalist, first came to Cambodia in January 2014 to work for the Cambodia Daily after time with the Toronto Star, Toronto Sun and Mississauga News as a staff reporter/photographer.
He returned to Canada in 2016 for a stint at the Telegraph-Journal in Saint John, a quiet maritime city on Canada’s east coast where he continued to follow Cambodian news.
As the political climate in Cambodia continued to deteriorate – leading to the exile of the opposition leader, self-imposed house arrest of his deputy and the assassination of an outspoken government critic – he felt compelled to return to the country as a freelancer focused on photography.
